EWG seeks a bachelors level scientist to join our science team in Washington, D.C. The Junior Research Database Analyst will primarily assist the research team with the development and maintenance of our popular consumer databases (Skin Deep® Database, Guide to healthy Cleaning, Sunscreens Guide)  and engage with companies interested in our databases.

Responsibilities: 
  • Contributing to the building and maintenance of EWG’s consumer databases, including our popular Skin Deep® Database, Guide to healthy Cleaning, Sunscreens Guide. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, collecting and updating product information, spearheading quality control efforts and assisting the team to develop protocols to make these efforts as efficient as possible. 
  • Screening data submitted by companies in compliance with EWG’s databases and verification program, identifying gaps in company submissions and uploading data to the relevant sites, accordingly.
  • Assist with other research tasks.
Qualifications: 
  • Preferred: BS in science, environmental health, or public health fields. Familiarity with chemistry and chemical names, necessary.
  • Attention to detail and accurate data entry.
  • Ability to independently pursue and complete research tasks.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to pace work to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Internet research.
