Washington, D.C. - Environmental Working Group vice president for government affairs Scott Faber released the following statement on the American Family Economic Protection Act.
"We applaud provisions of the American Family Economic Protection Act that finally end direct payments, which have largely flowed to the largest and most successful farmers regardless of need, and that restore funding for critical programs designed to protect the environment, prevent hunger, and support local and organic farmers. In particular, we applaud Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow for their bold leadership on behalf of family farmers and the environment."
